Néla and the Ambassador 💬

In case you are American, unaware about this but open to a new way to use your fortune and expend your private circle of friends in high places, I learned this week that the United States is the only western government that routinely rewards megadonors with top diplomatic posts like ambassadorship. Apparently, nothing in the Constitution talks about the qualifications required to be an ambassador. A president can appoint whoever he wants for whatever reason he wants – unless the Senate refuses to confirm a nominee, which has not happened in over a century.

An example mentioned in this finance podcast I watched was Bruce Alan Heyman, American businessman and former Goldman Sachs executive (and very chill looking man I might add), nominated in 2013 by Barack Obama as U.S. Ambassador to Canada – allegedly cost $2-3millions in donations. Learning bout this fact reminded me that a lot of people I have been around that are C-level executives or successful businessmen/women often love to be in close contact with top government officials. So why not become one yourself if you can buy your way in?

When I was reading on the subject, I wondered if it is something I would do; and while I prefer to keep a little distance from politics, I do like the idea. I wouldn’t want to be the ambassador myself (non merci, I prefer to stay a bit away from the spotlight) but I would 100% support it and be involved if a family member, a close friend, lover, husband was working on it.

My reasons are:

  • More friends in high places; this is a great way to form new friendships with a broader range of individuals who are impactful. In my case, I have a passion in philanthropy and I feel like when we connect with people, we tend to feel more incline to believe in what they do and to willingly participate. I believe that the better our circle, the greater the impact we have + it is good for the soul to connect with new people ♥️;

  • Opportunity to work with and learn about people from other countries and different culture;

  • Learn more about diplomacy, which I believe is an art. The art of fluently speaking the other persons language (figuratively), it is like dancing slowly with a lovely synchronization. Blaise Pascal said “Diplomacy is the art of saying things in such a way that those to whom we speak may listen to them with pleasure.”;

  • Have access to the behind the scenes of important decision makers. It always fascinates and inspires me;

  • Diplomatic immunity - fun fact, without going into much details, I had it at some point in my teens to early 20s and I remember it being really cool to travel;

  • I am a foodie I will get to enjoy meals from all my fav chefs worldwide + have access to the best cellars!!!

  • As a single lady and friend of the ambassador, I get to have a really fun and interesting dating pool😌. Being courted with: generous donations to causes I work on, vacations in chateaux/secluded villas where I can be naked 99% of the time, enjoy nature + hikes with amazing sceneries; a pied-à-terre on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré as a birthday present; weeks of romance in the penthouse suite at Claridge's; a formula one team?🤣 at this point, I may marry that man who will gift me one of the most valuable teams (or of shares of it) in a sport I love to watch… Granted he is unmarried himself, if not, a very happy hot girlfriend I will be🤭

 Above all the 184792 reasons I may have, I strongly love the idea that I will be in a position where I will have more to offer as an individual and move the needle as much as I can in the things I believe in 🤍
That being said, if you are an American Ambassador or Top diplomate reading this, book me! I want to hear about the reasons you wanted to become one, the misconceptions about your work etc; and of course I will be your secret French attaché 🤓

If you are not a top diplomate I still want to hear the reasons you would hypothetically like (or dislike) the idea of becoming one. In the meantime, here are unedited photos from my latest photoshoot displaying the art of diplomacy in my kitchen 🥂

See you in 2 weeks, with another “blog”!
Tendrement, Néla 💋
